I’m helping autistic people live a life of participation, opportunity & choice and I hope you will join me!
My kids have spent their life struggling to be understood before and during their diagnosis of being on the spectrum. Their behaviours were blammed, on my single parenting methods and defined as to having no reason to act out the way they did. They were constantly judged, given consequences and isolated for being on the spectrum.
Austism Queensland liased with me over the years as a parent but in a professional copacity before children running professional development courses for people working with kids on the spectrum in educational settings eg early childhood and helped me with understanding what being on the spectrum was like and what I could do as an educator and now as a parent to advocate and support my kids and other kids with love, support and understanding to be their voice.
Autism unfortunitly is individualised and life long, making it a long journey of trial, error and sacrific. Constantly adapting to their on going and developmental needs.
This year as a family we would like to walk the 5km Bridge to brisbane for this organisation raising understanding and vital funds for Autism Queensland to help them continue their work in supporting autistic people of all ages across Queensland to live a life of participation, opportunity and choice.
